SUMMER CAMP: Foundations of Digital Photography with Pittsburgh Filmmakers Youth Media

Presented by:  The Pittsburgh Filmmakers Youth Media is committed to the artist and the advancement of artistic excellence in visual arts – specifically film.

PLEASE NOTE:  This is a week long summer camp held at The Artsmiths in Mt. Lebanon; each class is a 6.5 hour session from 9am to 3:30pm. Registering for this camp includes registration for the full week of Monday, August 28th through Friday, September 1st.

CLASS DESCRIPTION:  Get beyond the automatic functions of digital photography in this hands-on camp. Learn how to master the manual functions of a digital camera while gaining an understanding for what makes for a compelling photograph. You'll learn the basics of composition and exposure while also cultivating a critical eye. Then, discover the power of Photoshop and sample a variety of digital imaging techniques while editing your work. Bring your own camera or borrow one of ours.

MATERIALS NEEDED:  All materials are provided by the Artsmiths of Pittsburgh and costs are included in the tuition.  If a student has their own camera or laptop with Photoshop they can bring them to class to use and to save their work.

LUNCH:  Students must bring a packed lunch unless other arrangements have been made through The Artsmiths by completing our Lunch Sign Up Form and paying the resulting fees at least one week prior to the start of camp. A limited amount of food and beverage may be available for purchase at our Koolkat Café.
