PLEASE NOTE: This is a week long summer camp held at The Artsmiths in Mt. Lebanon; each class is a 6.5 hour session from 9am to 3:30pm. Registering for this camp includes registration for the full week of Monday, July 3rd through Friday, July 7th EXCEPT there will be no class on Tuesday, July 4th.
CLASS DESCRIPTION: Do you know where your food comes from? Do you want to get started learning to garden? Explore methods for sustainable agriculture from selecting seeds, nurturing your soil, caring for your gardens, and composting. Make your own take home garden planter, terrarium and composter. Parents Note: Your child will be bringing these items home and will want a place to use/enjoy them!
INSTRUCTOR: Beth Hedin has a master's degree in Horticulture from Rutgers University. She is a garden designer, an avid gardner, an accomplished weaving artist and resident baker at The Artsmiths. In addition to Beth, several other instructors and related organizations are expected to be involved.
MATERIALS NEEDED: All materials are provided by the Artsmiths of Pittsburgh and costs are included in the tuition.
LUNCH: Students must bring a packed lunch unless other arrangements have been made through The Artsmiths by completing our Lunch Sign Up Form and paying the resulting fees at least one week prior to the start of camp. A limited amount of food and beverage may be available for purchase at our Koolkat Café.
