Silver Button Originals!

CLASS DESCRIPTION  In this workshop you will create your own sterling silver buttons.  You will explore a relatively new technique involving mostly reclaimed metals. You will learn to texture, cut, and shape your buttons, then smooth out the edges, add the necessary holes, and finish the surface so it will end up with a beautiful shine.

Demonstrations will cover several designs about one inch across. Participants following that lead should be able to complete three buttons in the class. (Adjust the count up or down a bit if you prefer a different size.) For those who work fast and have enough interest in making more, additional silver material will be available for you to purchase to make extras.

A button is basically the same as a charm or an earring element. It may have a different number of, or location for, its holes but that's a minor construction detail. So if you want to make charms or earrings instead of buttons, you're welcome to join us this evening, too.

PLEASE NOTE:  Pieces will be fired after class, and available for pick-up at Artsmiths one week later.
